3D Design

Relief

After creating a basic 2D design, create a 3D design that emulates the basic design in 3D space while still looking like the 2D design from the top.

Large Design 1 - Plain Paper

Overview

I created a basic design through random chance - I took torn up pieces of brown construction paper and dropped them on the white paper until it created an interesting composition. Then I made slight changes while still maintaining the feel of the randomly created design. After the design was finalized, I created the same type of design in 3D space, taking different elements and forms from the 2D design and extending it "upward" and off of the flat 2D plane in different manners, again, sometimes representing the different elements in different ways - different heights, lines, voids, of actual shapes. After building the first larger 3D form, I then also created another larger form based on the same design that used different similar materials to add some contrast to the sculpture while still retaining a lot of the same unity and simplicity of the original.
